The 46-year-old British journalist and TV personality was tapped for the CNN show last year. "Piers Morgan Tonight" premiered in January, replacing "Larry King Live" on CNN's weeknight schedule.
When it first emerged that Piers was in line for the 9 PM ET slot, which was then held by exiting talk show host Larry King, rumors surfaced that NBC was prepared to let the Brit do the CNN show, provided he still adhered to his "AGT" commitment.
